If you don’t feel like visiting vet for any reason to overcome fleas on your cats, then the best way to get rid of fleas is using natural treatment.
Most people think that natural treatment is less effective than medication, it’s not entirely true. Yes, it may take a few days (not instantly) until you’re sure the fleas are destroyed completely, be it on your cats or in your home.
The first reasonable step to overcome fleas on your cat is bathing it. Make sure you don’t use any kind of harsh shampoo.
Taking your pet to the vet to give it chemical bath is good, but it’s recommended to bathe it yourself using natural treatment, especially if your cat is less than a year.
Rosemary bath can be the best way to get rid of fleas. Take 2 1/2 cups of rosemary leaves, put in into the water and boil for 1/2 hour. After that, let it be warm then pour it all over your cat.
Beside rosemary, some people think lemon is the best way to get rid of fleas. Boil 2 lemons (already chopped) in 2 glasses of water for 1/2 hour.
Then, pour it into a gallon and let it be warm. Right after it’s getting warm, you can pour it all over your cat.
If you don’t fancy the idea of bathing your cat, DE (Diatomaceous Earth) can be used as well. DE has sharp edges, thus it can kill fleas effectively.
If the fleas come in contact with that, its sharp edges will stab the fleas and they’d die because of excessive bleeding.
You just have to take a handful of DE, and sprinkle it to your cat. Don’t forget to rub it too so every drop of it will give expected result.
After bathing or sprinkling your cat, it’s necessary to use flea comb and comb your cat. You can spray lemon juice to the comb before combing your cat, or simply just comb it after the fur has dried. Flea comb will get rid of the eggs as well.
Another alternative is using light trap. You should know that fleas are attracted to lights. Thus, you can set a trap by preparing a shallow dish full of soapy water and put it under a bright light.
Don’t forget to place your cat next to the dish. You’ll see many fleas jump reaching the light, and they’ll end up floating in a soapy water.
To make sure the fleas won’t come again, or the eggs won’t hatch, you must clean every nook and crevice in your house.
Spray lemon juice or sprinkle DE to your carpets, rugs, stuffed animals (if any), and such. Vacuum every surface of the floor and piece of furniture you have.
Wash your bed sheet and pet’s bedding using boiling water mixed with lemon juice or rosemary mixture. If possible, it’s recommended to throw away the highly infested bedding or things.
Repeat the process everyday until you’re sure the fleas are gone. It may take a while and much effort, but it’s necessary to get rid of those annoying little creatures.
